Friday 13th

I've only just realised the date. Funny, when you're on holiday the days and dates drift away! We have had a fabulous day in Biscarrosse - on the Atlantic coast of France. We wanted to see the Dune de Pyla - a huge sand dune!! I didn't know what to expect, but it surpassed every thought. As As we trekked through the woods to see it, were soon met with this wall of sand and a staircase from the bottom to the top. It is the tallest sand dune in Europe reaching 108 metres. Once we clambered to the top the views were incredible to the sea and Cap Ferret in the distance.. Now we were up here, how to get down? We stood and watched kids tearing down hill - running, using bodyboards, sitting on bags and sliding! I knew David would be itching to run - so after emptying his pockets of keys and glasses - off he went. Not to be outdone, I followed, sinking up to mid calf in the sand. it was the best feeling and tempted though we were to do it again - the haul up the stairs was not so attractive second time round. A fantastic day and a help towards burning some of the French calories we are enjoying;-)
